The JOY! Campaign is the brainchild of undergraduate students Ashruta Narapareddy (23') and Madison Good (23').  Having their college experience dramatically altered by covid, and in response to the Spring 2021 Healthy Minds survey for undergraduates inspired them to address their shared  belief  that undergraduates have little to no opportunity to laugh for the sheer pleasure of it. They designed and oversee the following offerings, all designed to bring a smile, a laugh, or even a moment of joy to one's day.

THE WRITING'S ON THE WALL (FALL 2021, SPRING 2022)

This campaign will be prominently displayed across all campus UG residence elevators to provide moments of wonder, joy, and laughter by individual and group exposure to writing though poster-sized Post-its and Art Poems.  A new post-it or poem, will be offered bi-weekly throughout the 2021-2022 academic year, to bring  a smile, a chuckle, or a moment of joy to our busy days.

NOSTALGIA NIGHTS (SPRING 2022, FALL 20212)

Nostalgia Nights will be featured on a monthly basis  and chaired by a rotating line-up of residence halls,  offering movies, games, and activities from the undergraduate's early years (think Pokemon, Power Rangers, Matrix, Toy Story, Trivial Pursuit, lawn games, etc.). These nights encourage friends old and new share a laugh while engaging in the cultural experiences they enjoyed when they were young.

5 MINUTES OF MAKING (SPRING 2022)

Offered on a bi-weekly basis, this initiative asks undergraduates to help create a series of 6 large-scale canvases, using a different art technique each time. Set up on Rand's green space, it only takes a passing student 5 minutes to fill in a paint-by-number shape, throw a paintball (or two), or select a color corresponding to your mood to help create community art!  Upon completion, these canvases will be displayed in Rand's common areas for all to enjoy.

LUNCH LAUGHS (FALL 2022)

Lunch Laughs is being designed as a bi-weekly interactive arts experience outside of Rand Dining Hall to provide students with an opportunity to quickly make or engage with the arts. The Fall 2022 offerings will focus on live performances by young musicians, magicians, comics, dancers, and actors.
