COMMUNITY ART
When we began to design The Art of Healing Exposition (AoH) it was vital that we ask Nashville-area artists, writers, sculptors, filmmakers, poets and other creatives to join us. We believe everyone has some degree of creativity which can be harnessed in support of improved mental and physical well-being.
When we issued the AoH Call for Art we asked for work which demonstrated how creativity was utilized to cope with our changed world since March 2020. We wanted to see art which was made in response to the immense physical, mental, and emotional tolls of the last year. Most importantly, we were looking for work which demonstrated unique perspectives, thoughts and dreams of our community members.
We were thrilled to received over 423 pieces of art ranging from paintings to sculptures to writing and film from 162 artists across middle Tennessee. Our esteemed judges selected ~210 'Best Of' pieces, which will be hung across Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Vanderbilt University, and select sites in the community.
Art which was not selected for physical display will be incorporated into virtual museum galleries and featured on the Art of Healing Facebook and Instagram pages, with a new piece of art featured every Monday through Friday from September 17, 2021 through December 16, 2022.
We cannot wait to share Nashville's creativity with you beginning September 17, 2021.
